Event description
Please note that this course is for the Children in Care Team.

A lot of work has taken place to develop our ‘Practice Model’ in South Gloucestershire. However, our three approaches have not always been understood in terms of how they work together.

Kingston Upon Thames (who share our practice approaches), created their own training called, ‘The STAR Programme’, to help embed their Practice Model. They are in their third year delivering this and have agreed to use this as a model to design a programme for SGC, with an aim to us being self-sufficient in delivering this by Sept 2024.

The STAR Programme brings together Signs of Safety, Trauma Informed and Systemic approaches across all 7 sessions. The sessions have the following themes:
S = Safety 2 x 0.5 days
T= Transparency 1 x 0.5 day
A = Aspirational 1 x 0.5 day
R = Relationships 2 x 0.5 day
The final session is a reflective feedback session.

Kingston upon Thames will be involved in the initial delivery and roll out of this programme from May - July, with our PSW, PDM’s and Signs of Safety team, observing these sessions, so that they are able to continue this programme with the remaining teams in September.

The training is essential for all practitioners including Service Managers and Managers and attendance is compulsory. If you are unable to attend any session, you must inform your manager and attend the session that you missed with another team.

PARKING
We have been made aware that there will not be sufficient parking at Poole Court for you all. It would therefore be advisable for you to plan your journey and consider what method of transport you will use. E.g. you could park your car at BMR and get a bus into Yate, or you could car share, but be mindful of the different parking restrictions in the different areas. Visit Council car parks | BETA - South Gloucestershire Council (southglos.gov.uk) to help you plan your journey.

REFRESHMENTS
For sessions taking place at KCC and BMR please bring your own refreshments as normal.
For Poole Court/The Armadillo, crockery , hot and cold water, will be provided, but please be prepared to bring your own tea and coffee etc. Should the provision of refreshments change, you will be notified.
